This bank position offers a flexible opportunity to support the Medicines Management function within the Devon Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) service. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the safe, legal and high‑quality management of medicines across multiple Primary Care Centres, helping us maintain compliance with national standards, local policies and clinical governance requirements.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to safer prescribing, effective stock control, and continuous improvement across the service. The role involves travel across Devon and suits a proactive, organised Pharmacy Technician who enjoys autonomy and variety in their work.

In this bank role, you’ll support the safe, effective and compliant delivery of medicines management across Devon IUC. Your work will span operational duties, governance activities, audit responsibilities and clinical support. Key elements of the role include:

Undertaking medicines management audits to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and legal requirements, developing action plans from audit findings and actively following up on progress.
Monitoring, trending, risk‑assessing and reviewing quality exception and error reports, ensuring any deviations from standards have agreed investigations and follow‑up actions.
Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of local pharmacy procedures and staying fully conversant with developments affecting medicines management.
Completing weekly visits to all bases to replenish morphine, undertake stock control of medication and supplies, and ensure consumables are available.
Carrying out monthly prescribing analysis and providing feedback to clinicians when required.
Following training, undertaking low‑level Datix investigations relating to medicine‑related incidents, complaints and healthcare professional feedback.
Assisting with stock checks and supporting new pharmacist inductions.
Chairing medicines management meetings and producing a monthly management bulletin to support communication and governance.
Undertaking core medicines management audits required by the organisation or ICB.
Reviewing and actioning CAS/MHRA alerts to ensure timely implementation of safety information.
Supporting the Medical and Clinical Leads with controlled drug ordering and receiving.
Producing slides and materials for quality assurance meetings.
Completing core ICB reporting requirements and contributing to wider organisational reporting.

Prior to joining Practice Plus Group I spent almost 10 years working in community, but I have found that the prison environment is where I feel I can utilise my skills and truly make a difference. I see patients with complex health issues, I help keep them informed about their medication and support out-patients in managing their conditions day to day.
